Tea & Coffee

How should I store my tea or coffee?

To ensure that your tea or coffee tastes delicious from the first sip to the last drop, we recommend storing your tea or coffee in airtight tins, containers or glass jars away from direct sunlight. Even better, you can explore our tea tin storage range here for stylish and practical solutions that will keep your tea or coffee fresh and flavourful.

What are natural flavours?

Natural flavours are all essences and extracts which are all distilled or extracted from actual fruits, plants, botanicals, herbs, nuts or the like - all of which are found in nature.

What are your teabags made of?

Our Soilon™ teabags are biodegradable and use plant starch as a base material.

How long does my tea or coffee last?

The quality of our teas and coffees are highly dependent on how they are stored.  Light,  air and moisture can all affect the quality of the product over time. Tea, thanks to its processing to prevent decay, can last a lifetime if stored in a cool dark place in an airtight container - have a look at our tea tin storage range here.  We recommend using the coffee products within 6 months of opening for the freshest and most flavourful taste. Be sure to handle it correctly during usage and keep pouches or containers airtight and store out of direct sunlight.

Essential Oils and Essential Oil Products

How should I store my essential oil products?

Proper storage of essential oils is crucial to maintain their quality and efficacy. Direct sunlight can heat the essential oil and deteriorate its delicate compounds, diminishing its efficiency and therapeutic benefits. To ensure the longevity and potency of our essential oils, we bottle them in amber glass. Amber glass provides a natural barrier against harmful UV rays, protecting the oils from degradation. We recommend storing your essential oils in a cool, dry, and dark place, such as a cabinet or drawer.

Are essential oils safe for pets?

Essential oils can be toxic to pets, particularly cats. The risk of poisoning depends on the type of oil, concentration, and how the pet is exposed (ingestion, inhalation, or skin contact). Symptoms can range from drooling and vomiting to coma, seizures, and liver injury.

Some common essential oils that are particularly toxic to pets include:

  • Eucalyptus and tea tree oil

  • Citrus oils (lemon, orange, grapefruit)

  • Peppermint oil

  • Pine oil

  • Ylang Ylang

If you suspect your pet has been exposed to essential oils, contact your veterinarian or the Animal Poisons Helpline immediately on 1300 869 738 (AU) or 0800 869 738 (NZ). Do not attempt to treat your pet at home without professional guidance.

Safe Use of Essential Oils Around Pets:

  • Use essential oil burners and vaporisers only in well-ventilated spaces.

  • Ensure pets do not have access to containers that hold essential oils.

  • Never apply concentrated essential oils to your pet's skin or coat.

  • Consult your veterinarian before using any essential oils around your pet.

Remember, every animal is different, and what might be safe for one pet could be harmful to another. Always err on the side of caution and consult your veterinarian for specific advice.

Masks

How do self-warming eye masks work?

A: Slumber Society’s Self Warming Eye Masks utilise a unique blend of natural ingredients, including iron particles, to create a gentle warming sensation upon contact with oxygen. This natural oxidation process and each mask is individually sealed so that once you open the bag it will automatically start warming up. The heat lasts for a minimum of 20 minutes but can last over 30 minutes.

Can I reuse a Self Warming Eye Mask?

No, these eye masks are designed to be single use only and must be disposed of after the first use.

Will the padded eye masks touch my eyes or eyelids?

Our masks are specially designed with a contour to keep out of contact with your eyes and eyelids. This means your lashes stay perfectly intact!

Nasal Strips & Mouth Tape

What is mouth tape?

Mouth tape gently holds your mouth together promoting nasal breathing and better sleep quality. Our mouth tape is specially designed with a hole in the middle to allow air to escape and enter should you sneeze or cough. This also helps with those who might be anxious about trying mouth tape and worried about your mouth being taped closed completely.

Is the mouth tape breathable?

Our mouth tape has a specially designed breath hole for extra safety and comfort as it allows air to escape or enter should you sneeze or cough, or if your nasal passage becomes blocked for any reason. Some other brands advertise that their tape is breathable, this is not necessarily true. The fabric may be breathable for your skin but you won’t be able to breathe through the tape.

I have sensitive skin, can I still use mouth tape or nasal strips?

Absolutely! Our mouth tape and nasal strips are made using medical grade adhesive and we advise you use a face cloth and warm water to aid in removing them without causing any irritation to your skin. Remember not to use the mouth tape or nasal strips on any broken or damaged skin.

Can anyone use mouth tape?

While our mouth tape is generally safe for most users, we advise against using it if you have any breathing difficulties, heart conditions, nasal congestion, or are under the influence of alcohol or sedatives. Always refrain from using mouth tape if you are experiencing vomiting, have highly irritable skin, sunburn, or broken or damaged skin around the mouth. Our mouth tape is not intended for use by children under 16 years of age. If you have any concerns or questions, please consult with a healthcare professional before using our mouth tape. Your sleep and safety are our top priorities.

How do nose strips work?

A: The strips have flexible bands embedded in them. These bands are made of a material that wants to return to its original shape after being stretched. When you apply the strip to your nose, the spring-like bands gently lift the sides of your nostrils. This lifting action widens the nasal passages, making it easier for air to flow in and out and makes a real difference for someone who suffers from nasal breathing problems..
